John C. Belmar was born in 1933 and was married to M.H.P.G.C.C. Charles Bauer's daughter, Mildred. Like his father-in-law, he was very dedicated to Masonry and also gained several honorable titles and positions throughout his lifetime. Belmar was a Past Master of Mizpah Mt. Moriah Lodge #40 in Florissant, MO. He too was also very active in Bellefontaine Chapter #25, Royal Arch Masonry, where he was a Past High Priest. In addition, Belmar held the title of Illustrious Master - York Council #40 and was Commander of Ivanhoe Commandery, Knights Templar. In 1986, Belmar's father-in-law, Charles O. Bauer, appointed him to be his successor as Most Honorable Grand Commander in Chief. Belmar served as Most Honorable Grand Commander in Chief from 1986 to 1999, when he chose William E. Wenger, Past Commander of Black Hawk Order #8, to be the Sixth Most Honorable Grand Commander in Chief.
